Becoming with the World score (can follow Boundary score)

Score introduction: This score invites your participants and/or performers to introduce themselves in a way that embeds them in and of the world and invites in their embodied histories, as opposed to them being positioned as isolated individuals and occupiers of an immersive experience. This score can seamlessly follow the boundary score or work as stand alone exercise or experience.

As you move around the room, find a partner and between you both, sense one another’s boundaries and hold space between you.

Notice how this space you’ve created and are holding between you exists as a site of connection, not exclusion.

Once you find this, can I invite you to introduce yourself.

But this time, avoid societal categorisation, such as your age, your gender, your job, your nationality.

Instead, can I invite you to introduce yourself in a more procedural, speculative, dynamic way.

For example, instead of saying ‘my name is Thea, I’m am adopted from Chile, I am Mapuche, I’m a choreographer…’

I would instead say:

‘I stretch across the ocean, and am rooted on two different landmasses. I come from a Volcano and am warm and earthy. I shift and move with the rhythms of the planet..’

As you introduce yourselves to one another across your shared space or border, if it feels right, allow the shared space between you to move, and follow, perhaps by moving your hands or arms, or shifting the areas of the body that your are holding the space with

Once you have finished this dance of introducing your becoming selves, please thank your partner, release, and find another partner in the space to introduce yourself to.
