Take a moment to focus on your breath, this acts that connects our inside with the outside. Feel not just your lungs breathing, but also your whole body, feel the border of your skin soften and the porosity of your being expanding and contracting in space.
We’re going to centre ourselves across three different dimensional planes, connecting to our insides, to the boundaries of our bodies and our surroundings, our worlds and our histories. You don’t have to stay rooted to one spot, you can move if you feel the impulse…
The first direction I want to invite you to focus on for centering yourself is verticality - feel a strong sense of rooting downwards, travelling all the way down your body, through your feet, connecting you to the earth. Feel gravity ground you. At the same time, taking strength from the earth, sense an upward sensation, travelling through your body, all through to the top of your head. Out into the cosmos, helping you stand tall…
The next direction we’ll focus on centre from is sideways. Focus on this is the line of energy that connects you through your sides, and your arms to other people. Notice people standing alongside you. Be aware of all the sides of your body as you feel a sense of being with, of solidarity, of inter-corporeality and connection…
We’re now going to move to your back as the part of your body to centre from. Feel the whole surface area of your back, and beyond that sense a line of ancestors behind you, the people who have come before you, the makers, the dreamers, the families, the friends. The people who have your back. Holding you, supporting you...
Finally, we’re going to turn our focus to centering from the front of your body. From this part, you greet the world, you move with intention, you move towards people you care about, and challenges you want to overcome. Take a deep breath and feel your chest fill…
